Bornin 1932, Mr. Mohammed Mohsin studied International Relations at the Universityof Dhaka (1951-1953) and London School of Economics and Political Science (1954-56). Joiningthe government service in 1956, Mr. Mohsin served in different capacities athome and abroad under the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce both inPakistan and Bangladesh. After independence, he served as Ambassador in SaudiArabia, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Belgium and also as PermanentRepresentative to the EEC (now EU) in Brussels (1973-77 and 1985-88) and theOIC in Jeddah (1981-85). Heserved as Foreign Secretary from 1988-1989. He was then elected AssistantSecretary General of the OIC in Jeddah where he served for two terms from 1989 -1997. In 2005, the Philippines Government honoured him by conferring theirhighest presidential award (the Order of Sikatuna) for his outstandingdiplomatic achievements in brokering a historic peace agreement between thePhilippines government and Moro Muslim Rebels (MNLF) over the fate of Mindanaopeople in Southern Philippines. Afterretirement from active service, Mr. Mohsin joined the Bangladesh Institute ofInternational and Strategic Studies (BIISS) as Senior Research Fellow.
