Foreign Minister Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has handed over the Instrument of Ratification of the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon yesterday at the UN headquarters in New York. Bangladesh is one of the first countries that has ratified this Agreement. It reflects the firm commitment of Bangladesh and the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in addressing climate change adversities. This also places Bangladesh in a strong position in global climate change negotiations, particularly in the areas like mitigation, adaptation, loss & damage, finance and technology transfer.
Bangladesh earlier signed this landmark Agreement on 22 April 2016. The Agreement was adopted in Paris in 2015.
